IT support for accountants and payroll firms
Dependable IT for deadlines, client data and the working day
Practical managed IT support for accountancy practices, bookkeepers and payroll teams that need secure access, responsive help and a clearer technology plan.
Support that understands the pressure
Keep essential systems available when the calendar cannot move
Payroll runs, filing periods and client commitments leave little room for unreliable devices, inaccessible accounts or a support request that disappears into a long queue.
JM Restart brings day-to-day support, monitoring, security, cloud services and forward planning together. We can act as an outsourced IT partner or work alongside your existing team and software suppliers.
We have supported the surrounding IT environment for organisations using Moneysoft Payroll Manager, TaxCalc and Keytime Practice Manager. The software vendor remains responsible for its product, licensing and specialist application support.
A useful fit for
- Accountancy practices and payroll bureaux
- Bookkeeping teams and finance departments
- Firms with remote or hybrid workers
- Growing practices that need clearer IT ownership
Connected support

The exact service is agreed around your firm, but these areas often need to work together.

Support for Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Intune, Entra ID, Conditional Access and secure remote working.
Accounts and permissions
Joiners, movers and leavers, access reviews and practical controls that help each person reach what they need without keeping unnecessary access.
Security and email
Managed endpoint detection and response, email security, multi-factor authentication and clear help for staff who are unsure about a message or sign-in request.
Backup and recovery
Independent SaaS backup for agreed Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace data, plus practical planning for local backups, restore testing and recovery priorities.
Networks and suppliers
Support for connectivity, Wi-Fi and networks, with technical coordination when a problem also involves your accounting, payroll or line-of-business software supplier.
Protect access to sensitive work
Practical security without making the working day harder
Accountancy and payroll teams depend on email, cloud storage, finance systems, payroll platforms and HMRC services. A compromised account or missed staff change can affect far more than one computer.
JM Restart can help strengthen sign-in security, review permissions, protect devices and email, improve backup arrangements and give staff an approachable route for reporting concerns. Security controls are matched to the firm’s systems, responsibilities and risk rather than treated as a tick-box exercise.
HMRC sign-in details remain personal to the authorised user. We will not ask a client or staff member to hand over their HMRC credentials so that we can access an account as them.
Security priorities can include
- Multi-factor authentication and sign-in reviews
- Individual accounts and role-appropriate access
- Managed detection and response for covered devices
- Email security and phishing awareness
- Independent backup and tested recovery
- Documented onboarding and offboarding

Remote support
A clear route when someone needs help
Many faults and account issues can be handled remotely. Contract customers can raise a ticket through shared team routes so the request is not dependent on one named person being available.
Our standard working hours are 09:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday, excluding UK bank holidays and announced company closures. Out-of-hours work may be available at the applicable rate.
On-site support
People who can come to the problem
Regular on-site support can be discussed for locations up to approximately two hours from Ipswich, subject to the agreement, workload, travel and visit arrangements. Remote services are available more widely across the UK.
On-site work is particularly useful where devices, cabling, Wi-Fi, printers or several suppliers need to be considered together.
Common questions
IT support for accountancy and payroll teams, explained
Can JM Restart work with our accounting or payroll software provider?
Yes. Where a fault crosses devices, networks, Microsoft 365 or a specialist application, we can carry out appropriate technical checks and work with the relevant supplier. The software provider remains responsible for its own product and contractual service.
Can support be planned around payroll and filing dates?
Tell us which systems and dates are business-critical during scoping and ongoing reviews. We can use that information to prioritise preparation and reduce avoidable changes during sensitive periods. No IT provider can guarantee that a third-party service or device will never fail.
Do you provide both remote and on-site help?
Yes. Many issues can be handled securely by remote support. Regular on-site support can be discussed for locations up to approximately two hours from Ipswich, subject to the agreement, workload and visit arrangements.
Can you help with Microsoft 365 security and staff changes?
Yes. We can support Microsoft 365, identity, multi-factor authentication, permissions, user onboarding and offboarding, email security and managed devices within the agreed scope.
Will JM Restart make our firm compliant?
We can help implement and document practical technical controls, but we do not provide accounting, legal or regulatory assurance. Your organisation remains responsible for deciding its obligations and, where needed, obtaining specialist professional advice.
Will you need our HMRC password?
No. HMRC sign-in details must not be shared. The authorised user should sign in directly. We can help with the device, browser, connectivity and general technical route without asking to use another person’s credentials.
Would a more dependable IT arrangement help your firm?
Tell us about your team, systems, busy periods and current support. We can help define a sensible next step and a quotation that reflects the actual scope.
