IT support for dental practices
Keep practice technology working from reception to the surgery
Responsive support for the computers, networks, security, cloud services and specialist supplier relationships that a busy dental practice relies on.
Experience around dental systems
One technical route when several systems affect the appointment
A slow workstation, imaging problem, network fault or account issue can interrupt reception, treatment and administration at the same time.
JM Restart has directly supported independent dental practices and has worked around Systems for Dentists, VistaSoft, KP Dental and Neowise environments. We support the wider IT environment and coordinate with the relevant dental or imaging supplier where their specialist input is required.
Customer names remain internal evidence unless the practice gives permission to be identified publicly.
Support can cover
- Reception and surgery workstations
- Servers, storage and backup
- Practice networks and secure Wi-Fi
- Microsoft 365, email and identity
- Printers, scanners and connected devices
- Coordination with dental software suppliers
Practical priorities
Reduce avoidable interruption and make fault ownership clearer
Reliable workstations
Supported devices, sensible replacement planning, monitoring and troubleshooting for reception, office and clinical-room computers.
Networks and imaging routes
Investigation of switches, cabling, Wi-Fi, storage and workstation communication around specialist imaging systems.
Accounts and email
Microsoft 365, individual accounts, multi-factor authentication, permissions, shared mailboxes and safer onboarding and offboarding.
Security and patching
Managed protection, update planning, email security and staff support that complements the practice’s own governance.
Backup and recovery
Clear recovery priorities for agreed local and cloud data, with independent backup and restore testing where included.
Supplier coordination
Evidence-led escalation when a fault spans the dental application, imaging equipment, computer, server, network or internet service.
Protect availability, integrity and confidentiality
Technical controls that support the practice’s responsibilities
CQC guidance expects dental care records to be accurate, current, stored appropriately and shared appropriately. The Data Security and Protection Toolkit applies where an organisation accesses NHS patient data or systems.
JM Restart can help with the supporting devices, accounts, security, backup, networks and technical documentation. The practice, clinicians and specialist suppliers retain responsibility for clinical decisions, record content, dental-system use, imaging interpretation and regulatory compliance.
Useful controls include
- Individual user accounts and reviewed access
- Supported operating systems and applications
- Managed security and update processes
- Backup with documented restore priorities
- Secure supplier access and escalation routes
- Device and service documentation
Remote and on-site
Get the right type of help for the fault
Remote support is effective for many account, email, application and configuration problems. On-site visits are useful for networks, cabling, servers, imaging connections and faults involving several rooms or suppliers.
Regular on-site support can be discussed for locations up to approximately two hours from Ipswich, subject to the agreement, workload and visit arrangements. Remote services are available more widely.
Common questions
Dental-practice IT support, explained
Do you support dental practice and imaging software?
We have worked around Systems for Dentists, VistaSoft, KP Dental and Neowise environments. Our role is agreed case by case. Product licensing, clinical functionality and specialist configuration remain with the relevant supplier unless an authorised scope says otherwise.
Can you work with our dental supplier?
Yes. We can collect technical evidence, test the wider environment and coordinate escalation so the practice is not left passing messages between suppliers without context.
Will you need access to patient records?
Support should use the least access needed. Where a problem can be diagnosed without patient information, it should be. Any necessary access must be authorised, controlled and handled under the practice’s policies and the agreed support arrangements.
Can you certify our compliance?
No. We can help implement technical controls and produce supporting evidence, but the practice remains responsible for its legal, clinical, NHS and CQC obligations and should obtain specialist advice where required.
Would a clearer support route help your dental practice?
Tell us about your sites, workstations, specialist systems, suppliers and recurring problems. We can help define the right next step.
